Favorite Things: The Coffee Mug
Sometimes a favorite thing is ordinary on purpose. Angie on coffee, quiet mornings and the objects that become part of our routines.
I have always loved the idea that everyday things can become special simply because they become part of our lives.
A favorite sweater. A notebook. A candle. A song. A coffee mug.
Not expensive. Not rare. Just yours.
The Mug You Reach For First
You know the one.
There can be ten clean mugs in the cabinet and somehow your hand still goes to the same one.
Maybe it fits your hand better. Maybe somebody gave it to you. Maybe it has a chip you stopped noticing years ago.
For me, coffee is less about caffeine than the ritual around it.
A few quiet minutes before the day gets loud. A notebook nearby. A chance to think before everybody starts needing something.
Favorite Things Tell Our Story
I like that our homes slowly fill with objects that would mean almost nothing to somebody else and everything to us.
That is part of what makes a life feel lived in.
The things we love don’t always have to be important. Sometimes they become important because we love them.
