Date Your Spouse
Long relationships still need intentional time. Why continuing to date your spouse matters in the years after the kids, careers and busy schedules.
One of the easiest things to stop doing in a long relationship is the thing that helped build it in the first place.
Dating.
Not because something is wrong. Usually because life gets full.
Work. Kids. Bills. Family responsibilities. Health. Schedules. Eventually two people can become very good partners in managing a life and forget to create time that belongs only to the relationship.
Showing Up Still Matters
A date doesn’t have to mean reservations at the most expensive restaurant in town.
It means intention.
Put the phones away. Go somewhere different. Take the long drive. Try the new place. Dress up a little. Ask questions you haven’t asked in a while.
The point is to remember that your relationship is not just the infrastructure holding everything else together.
You’re Still Becoming People
That may be even more important after 50.
We change. Our interests change. Our fears change. Our plans change. The person you married years ago is still becoming somebody, and so are you.
The best date nights aren’t always about where you go. They’re about who you’re becoming together.
